Like other industries, operating a social welfare organization requires innovation and transformation to deliver sustainable development. With limited manpower and resources, they need an efficient operation model. Dialogue in the Dark (HK) Foundation Limited is Hong Kong’s only dark and silent experiential exhibition providing a comprehensive range of activities to promote the idea of social harmony, equality and diversity. After the new exhibition was established, a lot of digital elements were added to the series of sensory experiences such as “Adventure in the Dark”, “Archery in the Dark” and a special festive edition to attract different groups of customers through a range of activities. In terms of operation, HKT has utilized a comprehensive retail concept for the new experiential exhibition. They adopted a ticket vending machine equipped with HKT SmartPOS that accepts multiple electronic payment methods. In terms of experience, technical elements were incorporated into the games. Participants would wear RFID smart wristbands to track their scores during the game. After the game, the participants can put their wristbands in the RFID wristband reader where all the scores can be displayed and downloaded at the same time. Participants could also see their scores on the big TV screen at the exhibition. As a social welfare organization, Dialogue in the Dark (HK) Foundation Limited is lacking IT resources. For example, by using HKT’s business broadband, their operation has been much more efficient where HKT handles everything from network design and installation to maintenance. Through HKT’s new retail concept and one-stop service, Dialogue in the Dark (HK) Foundation Limited was able to make good use of technology to optimize its entire operation process. They were also able to incorporate competitive and digital elements into their activities to offer customers an innovative and diversified experience.
